Caffeine Helps Muscles to Recover · 1 day ago

As earlier studies have shown consuming caffeine to increase performance during exercises, in a lately released study caffeine is also noticed to help muscles to recover after an intense workout.

In the study seven endurance cyclists took a part in four sessions. When the participants drank caffeinated drink after the exercise their glycogen levels were 66 percent higher than normal. The amount of caffeine was equivalent to 5-6 cups of coffee.

According to researchers it’s not yet clear how caffeine aids glucose to move from blood to muscles, but it probably has something to do with the higher circulating blood glucose and plasma insulin levels.

In the study, relatively large doses of caffeine were used to maximize the potential effects. However, if one would like to start using caffeine commonly after workout, the potential negative effects must be taken into consideration.

Because of this the next step in the research is to find out how large dosages of caffeine are needed for applicable results. Doses used in the study were quite a lot even for regular coffee drinker. However, if you consume coffee daily, having coffee after workout may give you a nice extra boost on recovering.

Tobacco Ban a Threat To Dutch Coffee Shops · 6 days ago

As many countries in Europe have done before, Netherlands too, will deny smoking tobacco in public restaurants, pubs, and cafés. However, the coffee shops in which it is legal to smoke cannabis, see the new law threatening their business concept.

Although in Netherlands possessing marijuana is illegitimate, smoking is fully legal. Smoking pure cannabis in the coffee shops would be allowed, but since many people are used to mix tobacco with their marijuana joints, the new law will cause trouble.

In practise it is almost impossible for the shop keepers to make sure no tobacco is used in mix. The owners are afraid the law will decrease the popularity of their business, which is one of the main reasons why tourists keep visiting some of the cities.

Zyrtec-D consists of 5 milligrams of cetirizine HCl, an antihistamine, and 120 milligrams of the decongestant pseudoephedrine. It reduces nasal swelling and relieves sinus congestion and pressure.

Because pseudoephedrine can be used to manufacture illegal methamphetamines, the product is kept behind drug store counters. Customers who want to buy the drug will have to show identification before the medication is handed for them.
