Bongs
Some people smoke tobacco or marijuana via water pipes or what is commonly called a bong. The bong is very similar to the hookah used in the Middle East to smoke tobacco. A slight variation of the bong is also used in India to smoke tobacco and hashish.

Bongs consist of a long pipe which is filled with water at the very distal end. The end of the pipe is always immersed in a liquid in a specially designed jug. On top of the jug is a small bowl which can contain tobacco or marijuana or whatever one wants to smoke. When the tobacco is lit, the individual sucks through this long pipe and inhales. As the individual inhales the smoke from the tobacco is then transferred through the liquid and into the pipe. The function of the liquid is to cool the smoke.
To make the smoke as cool as possible the bong is usually filled with cold water with ice cubes. In addition, the long winding pipe also cools the smoke and by the time the smoke gets to the lung it is cold and thus feels more enjoyable. Besides the smoke cooling effect, the water in bong also traps some heavier particles and therefore make the inhaled smoke more cleaner and healthier for the user.
There are several variations of bongs in different parts of the world. Instead of water in the jug, one may use fragrant oils, tea, coffee or even alcohol. When alcohols or similar liquids are used, the hallucinogenic chemicals in the hashish or marijuana usually dissolve in the liquid and are filtered. So using alcohol as a liquid to smoke marijuana through a bong is a waste of money.
Many bongs have a small valve in the jug to release the build up of smoke.
Bongs come is all types of shapes, designs colors and artistry. The cost of a bong can range anywhere from $ 20 and above. However, once the principles of a bong are known, one can make bongs from many household objects and for example fruits.
