4000 Years Old Ginkgo Tree Discovered
A couple of ancient Ginkgo biloba trees were found in a Chinese Tiantan village of Changshun County about a week ago. The tree’s circumference is 16.8 meters (55.1 feet) and it is 50 meters tall.
The Chinese Ginkgo King was surrounded by numerous child trees that had varying thickness and height. Despite of its age the tree is said still to be in good condition.
The trees on this area are considered sacred by the local people. They are also a great home for many bird species. The locals say the tree produces more than four thousand pounds of seeds every summer.
