Caffeine Eases Alzheimer's Effects
Tampa Researchers have made a study on caffeine and its impact on Alzheimer’s disease. The test was made using mice whose genetic makeup had been altered to introduce the human gene for Alzheimer’s disease.
A caffeine regimen — the human equivalent of five cups of coffee daily — protected Alzheimer’s mice from the memory impairment that they otherwise would have developed.
And when caffeine was given to Alzheimer’s mice that were already memory-impaired, their memory was restored to the level of normal mice.
Although mice tests may sound a bit unethical, it’s nice to hear the new results, and I hope the finding will give researchers new power to study the subject more widely on humans as well.
