Herbs to Treat Insect Bites

When you get bit by an insect you don’t always get a first-aid kit near you, and you still would like to do something to heal the painful bite.
Well, you probably won’t have a herb collection either, but it’s nice to know what you can achieve if you have some of these herbs near you.

If the bite is red and swollen, you can treat it with a herb called calendula. Calendula reduces inflammation and sooths irritated tissue. For mosquito bites citronella oil, eucalyptus oil, and tea tree oil offer are likely to work. Soak the bites in salt water.

If you have ice cubes or onions they can be handy, too. There is, of course, a lot of different herbs you can use to treat insect bites as well as other wounds and bruises. You can find a nice list of herbs you can build a first-aid kit from on the Health24’s website here.
