Joint Rolling Competition in California

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws hosted the fourth annual joint-rolling competition in the Isla Vista’s Anisq’Oyo’ Park, California. The happening is aimed to promote nothing less than the decriminalization and use of cannabis.

In the 1970s local joint-rolling contests were a perennial affair, however, they disappeared some time in the ’80s. … We wanted to bring it back because we thought it would be a good way to get people out together to have some fun and at the same time educate the community about marijuana.

Thirty five competitors participated in various competitions including dance and joint- and blunt-rolling competitions. The prices were donated by a local head shop, and the main prize, elaborate conch-shaped glass bong, was won by an entry of eight-inch joint scoring 36.5 of 40 points. The hosts were pleased with the outcome of the evening.
