Magic Mushrooms in Kodaikanal

In Kodaikanal, the city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, magic mushrooms have become a part of the tourist culture. Magic mushrooms are sold in many fruit shops in the town, although they are usually available only to known customers.

They are picked up from thick jungles and of late, processed by pickers and sold clandestinely at exorbitant rates in the town. Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly, has been the common one-liner of pleasure seekers in this hill resort.

The magic mushrooms found in some parts outside Kodaikanal have attracted westerners to travel to the hills for a long time. Lately, the consumption of the psychedelic mushrooms have been brought to the attention of the narcotics authority.
