Results of Old Psilocybin Research Published
In year 2002 Johns Hopkins University laboratory made a research in the effects of psilocybin, the active ingredient found in so called magic mushrooms. In 2006 the researchers published a report on how the participant felt two months after the test.
The volunteers participated in the research by taking psilocybin were surveyed again fourteen months later. Two thirds of them told the substance had produced one of the the most spiritually significant feeling they had ever experienced.
In that survey the participants also told to still have felt a increase in life satisfaction and well being. That was notices in things like “feeling more creative, self-confident, flexible and optimistic”. However, experts emphasize not to try psilocybin on their own due to possible harmful effects.
According to researchers more formal studies of psychedelic drugs are coming. The study was partly funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the results were published by the Journal of Psychopharmacology.
