Kanna

Sceletium tortuosum, also known as Kanna, Channa, and Kougoed, is a herb which has a long history of use as a relaxing substance. It grows native mainly in the South Africa.

The traditional way to have Kanna is to chew the dried leaves of the Sceletium tortuosum plant, but nowadays one can buy caps or make Kanna extracts or tinctures into tea. Kanna can also be smoked.

The effects of Kanna are relaxing, it decreases tension and stress. With low doses the effect is relaxing, and gets more euphoric as the dose is increased. Larger doses may also affect one's emotions e.g. in the form of increased feeling of love and empathy. Kanna is also good to be mixed with other herbs.

The use of Kanna is uncontrolled and various strengths of Kanna extracts are available on stores selling herbal supplements.
